Accountant - Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements, and various accounting schedules on a timely basis, prepare account reconciliation, ensure adherence to all internal control procedures and other related accounting duties. 3+ years experience in accounting, full charge bookkeeping experience or BS in Accounting desirable.  Most universities will offer related degree  $16.22 - $21.73 per hour.

 

Activity Leader - Responsibilities include working with elderly individuals of all functioning activity levels toward achieving the highest level of independent function. Requires high school graduate or equivalent, valid California Driver's License with good driving record, must successfully complete within the first 6 months of employment the California State Activity Leader certification course which is available at a variety of nursing homes around the state. State certification may require a clean criminal history. Should have 1-2 years experience working with the frail elderly. $9.89 - $13.26 per hour.

 

Certified Nursing Assistant - Provide direct basic personal care to patients. They follow individual patient nursing care assignments assisting patients as described with hygiene, dressing, movement, ambulation and eating. They also monitor a patient's activity and appearance and do daily charting. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. May provide aspects of care for patients of all ages from birth on. May work in Medical/Surgical, OB , ICU, Surgery, and Convalescent Care Center . Requires high school graduate or GED, have a California Nursing Assistant Certificate, able to fully participate in patient lifting and transporting. State certification regulations requires no convictions for anything other than a minor traffic violation. Training available at Allan Hancock College or various Skilled Nursing facilities including Lompoc Valley Medical Center's Convalescent Care Center. $10.36 - $13.88 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Performs tests in all areas of the Laboratory including: Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Parasitology, Urinalysis, and Bacteriology; performs, verifies and maintains records of all quality control in each section assigned and documents instrument verification checks prior to release of any/all laboratory test results on a daily basis; troubleshoots and performs preventative maintenance on all equipment on a daily basis; fulfills other related duties as required. Requires Bachelor of Science Degree in a Biological science, and a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by California Department of Health. One year additional training at authorized training site, contact State Of California at 1-510 873-6327 . $26.12 - $35.00 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Coder - Analyze medical records ensuring compliance to rules and regulations of the medical staff. Provide DRG, ICD-9 and CPT codes for inpatient discharges and outpatient services from the hospital. Assist in preparing statistical reports monthly, annually and for special needs of the medical staff. Perform multiple duties utilizing the computer system. Requires high school diploma or GED, knowledge of ICD 9 and CPT coding, modern office equipment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, accurately type 45 wpm. Would be helpful to have CCS or ART credential. Allan Hancock College and Santa Barbara City College both have programs. $16.43 - $22.02 per hour.

 

Computerized Tomography (CT) Technologist - Assumes responsibilities as delegated by the department manager. Requires graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology , a valid radiography permit from the State of California . After obtaining general radiography license many facilities will perform on-the-job training in CT. Santa Barbara City College and other community colleges provide education and training. $22.90 - $30.69 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Food Service Worker - Under the general supervision of the Dietary Director and the direct instruction of the Cook, assigned to one of three positions: Dishwasher, Diet Aide or Cook's Assistant. High school graduate or equivalent, recent satisfactory work experience in food service, familiarity with sanitary handling of food. $8.00 - $10.72 per hour.

 

Housekeeper - Under general supervision to perform a variety of routine skilled cleaning tasks; to maintain an assigned work area clean and orderly; and to do related work as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Director of Environmental Services. High school graduate or equivalent, previous hospital or hotel cleaning experience preferred. $8.66 - $11.60 per hour.

 

Laboratory Assistant - Performs Phlebotomy (blood draws); prepares Cytology specimens; maintains departmental clerical duties; performs preventative maintenance on minor equipment; cleans glassware; processes specimens to render them ready for analysis; and fulfills other related responsibilities as required. High school graduate or GED, possess a valid phlebotomy certificate (CPT II) issued by the state, the location of currently approved training sites can be obtained by contacting the State Of California at 1-510 873-6327 . $11.50 - $15.41 per hour.

 

Licensed Vocational Nurse - The staff LVN coordinates and implements patient care on the assigned unit. Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Is able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group. Generally a two year program at a community college, and state license. $16.58 - $22.22 per hour, per diem 15% more.

 

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist - The MRI Technologist ensures that quality imaging is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the department's standard of care. Is able to produce imaging exams of optimal diagnostic quality through proper usage of parameters, computer processing techniques, positioning and film identification in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group.  After obtaining general radiography license many facilities will perform on-the-job training in MRI. Santa Barbara City College and other community colleges provide education and training. $23.95 - $32.09 per hour.

 

Patient Accounts Representative -Analyze billing elements for timeliness, accuracy and completeness to comply with contractual and regulatory requirements. Works with other departments to capture all coding and billing elements. Assists patient in addressing insurance payment questions. Performs financial assistance screening for uninsured patients and identifies resources to assist the patient/family with financial planning when applicable. Coordinates resources to aid in direct patient payments of claims when necessary. Utilizes a variety of technical platforms including the District's integrated information system, and external systems. High school graduation or equivalent, 3-5 years hospital insurance billing experience preferred. Allan Hancock College has several relevant courses. $10.14 - $13.59 per hour.

 

Pharmacist - Administers, directs and coordinates the pharmaceutical needs of patients, physicians and staff in the acute hospital. Participates in the preparation and delivery of all aspects of medication administration, acting as a clinical/expert resource. Participates in continuous improvement activities with members of the multidisciplinary team. Requires BS in Pharmacy or PharmD (doctorate in Pharmacology) with current California license with demonstrated clinical competence preferred. Have comprehensive knowledge of medication administration and delivery for patients of all ages; excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer proficient. University of California (USC) Orange County campus and other universities. $50.69 per hour, per diem $58.29 per hour

 

Pharmacy Technician - Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist the technician assists in the procurement, packaging, preparation and distributions of drugs, chemicals and sterile drug products. Requires high school diploma and Pharmacy Technician license from State of California . Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy, computer proficient. Training available at Lompoc Adult Education, Allan Hancock College and other community colleges. $13.06 – $17.50 per hour.

 

Physical Therapist -Applies physical therapy principles, methods and treatments to patients in accordance with professional judgment and medical prescription; provides patient care to outpatients, inpatients and Convalescent residents; provides direction to Physical Therapy Aides and assistants. Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Program (MS degree); possession of a valid Physical Therapist licensed issued by the State of California Department of Health. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions; to work independently; to maintain complete, accurate and current files/records. Education available at various universities ( Loma Linda , Fresno , Long Beach , Pacifica ). $26.61 – $35.66 per hour.

 

Physical Therapy Assistant - Plans, coordinates and implements patient care and progresses patient care plans in the assigned areas (inpatient, outpatient or CCC departments). Performs patient-related responsibilities delegated by and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist. Requires completion of a professional PTA program approved by the PT Board of California , current PTA license, one year acute, outpatient or SNF rehabilitation experience preferred. Available at a private college in the Santa Barbara area, but can also qualify for licensure with a minimum of 30 units in technical training, 15 units in general education and 36 months of work experience. $18.24 - $24.44 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Radiology Technologist - Applies x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by; or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognized patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Assumes responsibilities as delegated by the department manager. Requires graduation from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology , a valid radiography permit from the State of California . Some community colleges provide education and training, including Santa Barbara Community College . $20.45 - $27.41 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Registered Nurse - A professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. The staff RN has appropriate orientation, training and/or experience to be competent to care for the patient age group served. The R.N. must be competent in identifying, implementing and evaluating nursing interventions for patients within the unit. Registered Nurses administer medications and oversee the nurse assistants' care activities. Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program; possess a Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California , a IV Therapy certificate, for Emergency or ICU must have current ACLS certification. Nurses work in Surgery, Medical/Surgical, OB, Nursery, ICU, Emergency, and Convalescent Care Center . Nursing programs are available at many community colleges including Allan Hancock and Santa Barbara Community Colleges . $26.01 - $34.85 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Respiratory Therapist -Performs respiratory therapy treatments, blood gasses, EKGs and ventilator care. Plans, administers and evaluates respiratory treatments including incentive spirometry ( pulmonary function test) , m edication nebulizer , oxygen administration, mist tents, suctioning and IPPB ( intermittent positive pressure breathing) ; administers diagnostic and prognostic tests, including oximetry ( how well someone is oxygenating determined with a finger probe instead of drawing blood) , Arterial Blood Gas - drawing the blood from the arteries. Must posses a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the state of California Department of Health and a valid CPR card. Graduate from an accredited two year RT program, available at many community colleges across California - You can get a list from Respiratory Care Board - www.rcb.ca.gov . $20.30 - $27.20 per hour, per diem available at 15% more.

 

Surgical Technician - OR Technicians assist with the nursing care of patients in the operating room by performing routine and delegated duties, serving as scrub nurses, stocking supplies and maintaining cleanliness in the operating room. High school graduation or equivalent. One year certificate from college or technical school, 3 to 6 months training and experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Medical Assistant training is NOT an equivalent training. Training available from private colleges or some community colleges. $13.11 – $17.57 per hour.

 

Transcriptionist - Transcribe, proofread, copy, distribute and file various reports of the medical records as well as letters, memos, committee minutes and special reports as dictated by the medical staff. Operate computer, typewriter, transcribing and dictating equipment as well as other standard office equipment. Requires high school diploma or GED, knowledge of modern office equipment, type 60 wpm with accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills of the English language. Must be very knowledgeable of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology. Ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy, exercise good judgment, demonstrate initiative, at least one year medical transcription. Foundational training available at Allan Hancock College , other schools. $13.51 - $18.11 per hour.

 

Ultrasonographer - Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures; corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner, prepares patient for procedures, assists licenses practitioner with procedures such as needle biopsy, amniocentesis, practices aseptic technique as needed. Graduate of an accredited school of sonography, and two years similar or related work experience. $24.21 – $32.45 per hour.
