Foundation News Dec 2007![]() Alice Milligan Foundation President By Alice Milligan This month, I would like to cover a couple of Foundation committees which support the operation of the Foundation. Nominating and Membership is chaired by our very enthusiastic Chair, June Schwartz. June has done a yeoman’s job increasing our membership which now stands at over 2600 members. Her goal is to increase the membership to over 3000 by the end of 2008. With her dedication, I am sure she will achieve that goal. Becoming a member of the Foundation is simple. All you have to do is sign up. There are no dues. You are then placed on the mailing list and receive information on all of the programs and events sponsored by the Foundation. If you would like to volunteer to serve on a committee or work on an event, we would welcome you; however, that is not a requirement. Call the Foundation office at 805 737 5762 and you will be sent an application to join.

Foundation News Oct 2007![]() Alice Milligan Foundation President By Alice Milligan Under the Development and Finance Committee there are a number of opportunities for participation. The grant committee, chaired by Alice Milligan, researches and writes grants for projects at the hospital. A recent grant in the amount of $95,000 was received from the Santa Barbara Foundation. This grant, in combination with a grant from the federal government, will be used to construct an educational center for the training of certified nursing assistants which are so desperately needed to staff both the acute hospital and Convalescent Care Center. The facility will be located on the north-west section of land at the CCC location. We are actively pursuing other grant opportunities for both the CCC and the acute hospital. We are in need of additional grant writers. If you have experience or interest in grant writing we would very much like to explore possibilities with you.
